The Mufindi district council and the project of the Youth Agency Mufindi (YAM) in the Iringa region have provided training in agriculture and animal husbandry for 100 young people from families with difficult circumstances as a way to empower them economically.
The instructor of the 10-day training Aidan Kiwale speaking yesterday at the WCWC Hall Igoda Mufindi during the training asked the young people to invest their energy in agriculture and animal husbandry as it is a sector that is sure to grow their economy.
He said there are great opportunities in agriculture and animal husbandry, but most of the young people have been behind investing in agriculture and most of them believing that money is available for them to run to the cities or conquer the villages.
"Personally, I have invested more in the cultivation of food crops and businesses such as the cultivation of apricot trees which are now our gold in the Mufindi district" said Kiwale
Kiwale said that for an avocado tree farmer, he has a great ability to change his life within a short period of three years, the harvest begins and is a guaranteed harvest. For each tree, you can harvest between 200 kg and 300 kg, while one kg can be between Tsh. 1700 so you can't miss between 800,000 to 15 Million Tsh for one hectare.
So he said young people have a great opportunity to rush to invest in agriculture and beauty. The government has continued to put in place a good plan to improve the agriculture sector for young people.
On their part, the beneficiaries of the YAM project Dotto mponzi and Edna Masonda from Cha Ibwanzi village, Ihanu district said that the training for them is a great capital to go and fight for their economy.
They have said that before the training they had no plan to make you an entrepreneur in breeding or agriculture, but now they are very sure that they will bring an entrepreneurial revolution to their villages.
While the young man Godluck Masonda of Igoda village, Luhunga ward, apart from congratulating him on the YAM project, he still asked for the project's efforts to be supported by the Government by providing them with interest-free loans to develop their capital in agriculture and animal husbandry.
The project manager Zilipa Mgeni said that the project implemented by the Mufindi Council and the Fox Community and wildlife conservation (FCWC) institution is a project that will reach more than 320 young people and 80 children with disabilities from Luhunga, Mdabulo and Ihanu counties and 16 villages will benefit from that project
However, they said that the biggest challenge for them is how to get the capital that will enable them to do various production activities as well as the empowerment that the project will help them with so that they asked the Government to increase more.
Because they said it is clear that through the training they will start large and many economic projects that will require more money and if they lack capital funds for agriculture and animal husbandry they will not be able to take further steps.
