The Mufindi District Council in Iringa, in collaboration with the Youth Agency Mufindi (YAM) project, has launched an entrepreneurship training program for 130 youths with disabilities from 16 villages in the Ihanu, Mdabulo, and Luhunga wards of Mufindi District.

Zilipa Mgeni, the YAM Project Manager, stated today that the 15-day training aims to equip these young people with various entrepreneurial skills to help them achieve economic independence.

She mentioned that the training, which began last week, is currently taking place at the Yatima Hall in Igoda Village, Luhunga Ward.

According to her, the training will empower participants to start their own income-generating activities once they complete the program.

She emphasized that through this training, participants will gain sufficient knowledge to manage their lives independently instead of relying on others.

"Mufindi District is excelling in tree farming, and this training is one of the initiatives to address economic challenges and create opportunities for these youths," she said.

Through this program, participants will acquire self-employment skills in various activities of their choice, including agriculture.

She also highlighted that the current government, under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, continues to support all Tanzanians, and YAM is committed to complementing these efforts.

"Through the YAM project, these youths will become great ambassadors in their villages and contribute positively by engaging in productive activities instead of idling in the streets."

The training participants expressed their gratitude to the YAM project for selecting them and pledged to utilize the knowledge gained to bring positive change to their communities.

Luhunga Ward Councilor, Adam Mgovano, praised the YAM project, stating that it has significantly benefited his ward and the other participating areas.

"Training for youths with disabilities is highly impactful and will set a great example for others," he said.

The Youth Agency Mufindi project is implemented by the Mufindi District Council under the Foxes Community and Wildlife Conservation (FCWC) initiative. Supported by Finland, the project operates in Luhunga, Ihanu, and Mdabulo wards, benefiting youths and children from underprivileged families.
