NATIONAL NaConGo DELEGATA IN IRINGA REQUESTS COLLABORATION AND APPEALS TO RC IRINGA FOR OFFICE SPACE

The National Delegate for the Council of Non-Governmental Organizations (NaCoNGO) in Iringa, Fidelis Filipatali, has urged council members to work collaboratively to enhance efficiency and increase NaCoNGO's recognition within the community.

Speaking today at the first NaCoNGO meeting held at Iringa Sun Set Hotel, Filipatali emphasized that the government's intention in forming the council is to allow organizations to operate independently without government interference, aiming for self-regulation and oversight.

He stated that through the council, members should work as a cohesive team to achieve significant success, setting themselves apart from other regions.

Despite NaCoNGO's national recognition, it remains relatively unknown locally. Therefore, in Iringa, efforts are underway to introduce NaCoNGO effectively to the community, ensuring everyone understands its roles and responsibilities, which necessitates cooperation among members and leaders.

Filipatali mentioned that NaCoNGO in Iringa plans to continue collaborating with the government to provide quality public services. As the new chair, taking over from John Kiteve, he pledged to involve members in decision-making, with meetings and consultations being integral to his leadership.

Additionally, Filipatali read an introductory letter from the national level, officially recognizing him at the regional level, and requested regional authorities to introduce NaCoNGO leaders at the district level for broader recognition.

The former chair, John Kiteve, praised Filipatali for his vision and proactive approach, noting that he had never convened such a meeting during his tenure, having only met informally.

Meeting members, led by Lediana Mafulu Mng'ong'o, requested the Iringa Regional Registrar of NGOs to facilitate the establishment of a NaCoNGO office within the Iringa Regional Commissioner's office to enable collaborative efforts. They also expressed gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for continuing to recognize these organizations.

The Iringa Regional Registrar of NGOs, Saida Mgeni, noted that Iringa has over 400 NGOs, but accessing them is challenging when information is needed. Having a NaCoNGO office within the Regional Commissioner's office would simplify this process.

Mgeni mentioned that last year, the council faced difficulties due to not meeting for over two years, expressing hope that this issue would not recur.
