A total of 32 girls with disabilities, among 102 youth with disabilities supported by the Youth Agency Mufindi (YAM) project, have commenced tailoring training at the Igoda Orphanage Centre in Mufindi. The girls have expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by the project.

The Youth Agency Mufindi (YAM) project was established in 2021 and initially planned to run for four years until 2024.

Speaking yesterday, Rosemary Mpagama and Catherine Mkonye said the training is helping them realize their dream of starting a new, independent life.

They admitted that due to their physical disabilities, they never imagined they would reach a point where they could attend formal training like this.

They praised the initiative, especially the support from Foxes Company, for reaching out to them with this life-changing opportunity.

“Our district, Mufindi, has many companies, but Foxes stands out as a patriotic company that has chosen to give back to us, including those of us living with disabilities,” they said.

This project is funded by the Government of Finland through its Diaconess Foundation, in collaboration with the Government of Tanzania via the Mufindi District Council and the Foxes Community and Wildlife Conservation organization.

Due to the project's success—empowering over 700 youth to start entrepreneurial ventures—it has been extended for a fifth year, until 2025. The current phase specifically focuses on reaching youth and children with disabilities, with 134 youths with disabilities already enrolled in training from the wards of Ihanu, Mdabulo, and Luhunga.
