Iringa Region Commissioner Halima Dendego has commended the great efforts of tree planting carried out by The New Forest company in Kilolo district in the region, while advising that these efforts go together with education and environmental care education for the citizens, citizens around their areas of possibility to continue planting modern trees in their areas to develop their economy.

Speaking today during her visit to the investor's areas she talked to the people of Idete, Kilolo district, Dendego, said that the New Forest company has continued to implement the manifesto of the Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in practice, especially in the area of ​​environmental protection, which the nation and the world have been giving it greater priority.

Dendego said that the farm of The New Forest company is a large farm for the production of electric poles along with other companies in Mufindi district within Iringa region, but what is being done on the farm of The New Forest is the development of the care of natural forests which also helps to take care of the environment.

She said that one of the tasks carried out by the company includes facilitating the education of the people in planting trees, including enabling them and training in beekeeping to increase their income.



She said the sixth phase government of the under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has continued to implement projects of distributing electricity to the people in the villages, the aim being to see that all the people are provided with electricity, thus the high speed of producing of electricity poles that is going on in the New Forest farm is of a big certainty for companies manufacturing electric poles to continue using trees grown in the country to make electric poles.

"We as the government are proud to have productive investors in our areas through the New Forest company has expanded the scope of employment every year more than 250 people have been getting jobs within the company also the government has been benefiting from the various taxes provided".

However, she said that on the other hand, it is an opportunity for the people to use the company to learn better tree farming and start planting trees on their land, because in the coming years trees will be more profitable for the farmer, especially after the start of the charcoal harvesting process. Where the tree farmer will start getting paid for owning the forest even without harvesting.

Speaking about fire disasters, the regional commissioner said that in ​​Kilolo district areas, for the last year fire has not been a big problem as it was before, although she asked the people to continue to be careful with the preparation of their fields and avoid being the source of the establishment of unnecessary fire.

On other hands, Dendego said that the challenge of the poor infrastructure of the Iringa - Kilolo road, which has become a major obstacle for investors and citizens to transport their products, now, the government has started the process of construction of the road from Iringa town to Kilolo district at the level of bitumen and thus reducing the transportation challenge by more than 50 percent.



Speaking on behalf of his fellow citizens, Wingiledi Pasipanofu Luwago said that since the establishment of The New Forest Company in their areas, people around the area have benefited from their arrival as many of them have started to abandon traditional tree farming and grow trees commercially but the company has had good relationship with the people.



Meanwhile, the manager of relations and community development of The New Forest company, Bahati Sostenes, said that the company has been helping local farmers to plant trees as well as giving them plants to plant in their areas as well as enabling them to raise bees for honey.

Also she said that the company has prepared a strategy to empower the women and girls of Kilolo district to be shown the way to use their land to benefit from it by planting trees so that they can benefit more.



The director of The New Forest company, Matt Merrick, said that due to the various educations that the company has continued to provide to the people around the investment area, the situation of fire burning the forests has continued to disappear and that the company's strategy is to continue working closely with the people around the project area.
